Private Land Thank you' s

I was finally able to secure some private land to hunt on:):). Now for the majority of my hunting I hunt public land. What types of " thank you' s" have you given the land owners in the past as appreciaton for their generosity?

I help the owner patrol the property and cut trees off the roads andpick up trash along the hwy. side.put up signs fore him.
then each year I give him at least one deer, cleaned and cut.

There is always work needin done on a farm so I always offer a few days help,I also offer meat to the owners. At Christmas time I send a card and even deliver some candy or fruit baskets.O ne very important thing to do is if you are successful stop and show the owners what ya got. They always seem to enjoy that.

We take the owners some fresh fish fillets during the fishing season and venison salami, summer sausage and venison sticks after deer season. I keep the land posted with signs for them year round and like Jalvja, I always make it a point to drop by and show them any turkeys or deer I have taken. They like to see the game I have taken and hear the stories. I feel like this is not near enough for the enjoyment I get by hunting and fishing on their land. Maybe someday, somehow, I can repay them for all their generosity. Thank goodness for friendly landowners!! :)

I am a veterinarian so I offer free services on their livestock. I am lucky in that regard. I also help them tend fences, move cattle, etc. I tell them to call anytime they need help. they really appreciate this. Some may be reluctant to call at first so just show up periodically and offer your hand. I also send them a gift pack from Omaha Steaks during the holiday season. I only send those to a couple guys where I do the majority of my hunting. That would get expensive with several farms. Likely still cheaper than a lease though. I agree with all the other posters on the stopping to show them your game. It seems even if they don' t hunt they love to see your successes.

I' ve given every farmer or rancher walleye fillets and wild rice .They all seem to like that. I' ve also help them do chores around their place in the afternoons. I' ve done eveything from feeding chickens and sheep to helping with vaccinations on their cattle. Put on a walleye feed for one rancher and his family once. I think I can say we all had a good time. Be nice to them, and they will be nice back to you.
