Shotgun

I'm now becoming interested in turkey hunting and I need to buy a shotgun. I don't have a strict budget and I'm interested in the Remington 870 family. Furthermore, I have zeroed in on the Model 870 SPS-T Super Magnum Camo: http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model_870/model_870_sPS-T_super_magnum_camo.asp

Is this a goood choice? Any other suggestions?

Also, what would be a good choice for a choke and sights.

Thanks

My friend got one just before the spring season started but with a 26" barrel, and with the Remington extra full turkey choke, you made an excellent choice

That should be a nice gun for you. Congrats!
Before I answer the question about the choke I have to ask.....how far are you wanting to shoot?

Great gun super dependable I used an 870 for 15 years before I upgraded this year to a semi auto and I do miss it i might even trade it in on the gun your looking at.

Good Choice

Good gun. Can't go wrong with an 870, and that particular one gives you the option of 3.5" shells. You might pattern well enough with 3" shells, but its nice to have the option in case 3.5 is the ticket for you. I just picked up a mossberg 835, thats another low cost turkey slammer. Both remington and mossberg have their turkey hunting fans.

I have that exact gun, have had it for 5 years. Can't go wrong at all. Primos Tightwad .640 choke, 3 1/2" Federal number 5's = DECAPITATION, DEVASTATION, DINNER!

Yeah I reached out and touched him a little bit there. He shouldn't have been runnin that mouth and shakin his tail feathers at the ladies all morning long, haha. I've sure enough busted some heads with my 870,it's undoubtedly avery lethal setup and I do not ever plan to change it.

I have the 870 SPS-T super mag, but I have with the thumbhole stock and fiber optic sight in Mossy Oak Obsession. I have a Jellyhead choke on it. It's a great gun andI love it. You can't go wrong buying it.

Yeah those thumbhole stocks in obsession are sharp. That's the only way I'd buy a new gun, if I upgraded to that. How does the Jellyhead shoot in your 870?

It patterns very good. The Jellyhead is a little more open choke, so your not going to get 200 hits in a 10 inch circle at 40 yards. It's more like90 to 120, which is more than enough to kill any turkey. I've been thinking about trying an Indian Creek choke and see how it does, but I'm happy with the Jellyhead. I don't want too tight apattern.

Same here, I like how the Tightwad patterns for me. I've heard good things about that black diamond, but too pricey for me. Tightwad is a great choke, and the name also describes my way with money very well! :D
