Great Day of SCOUTING!!-- I think?

This morning i made the hour trip to the 50 acres of private land that i hunt. however, this is the first time that i have ever scouted here for turkys, or scouted anywhere for them. because this will be my first year. I feel like it was a good day but i was left with some questions. throughout the property there are a couple of tractor paths that i was walking on. not 200 yards into my walk i saw where it looked like a whole flock had been crossing the creek, at least there where tons of tracks ( and some BIG ones) all over both sides of the creek. i kept walking up the path and saw turky poop all up the tractor path. for a couple hours i walked and listed (hearing my first turky in the woods), but it was about 11 oclock before the fun really started. I was standing in the path close to the top of the hill listening to a couple of hens hollar not too far behind me, when a sound scared the CRAP out of me. the sound was 14 birds flying down from some tree that where right behind me. one hen landed so close to me i think i could have caught her if i tried. i even saw a couple with some beards whippin in the wind as they swormed around me. there were two other occasions that i stumbled upon birds sitting in the trees. over all i saw about 20-25 birds this morning.

my question is how long do the turkeys usually stay roosted. where they just coming down from the roost at 10:30 or were they up there enjoying the sun?

Boy, that pretty late for the birds to still be roosted. Maybe something scared them and they stayed late or flew back up. What was the weather like?

If the weather was clear and nice they probally had been spooked a few times that morning. I roosted a gobbler one morning last year that stayed up there until 10:30 at which time I tried to ease closer and accidently bumped him. That morning was very drizzly/misty and foggy. I have seen spooked birds fly up and sit in the trees for a couple of hours.
