RE: Taking a Tom off the roost-Ethical?
To begin with, I really don' t like wild turkey meat all that much. In 30 years I' ve only brought two home. ALL the rest have gone to farmers, friends, unsuccessful hunters I meet... heck, I even gave one away at a golf course after a morning hunt. The POINT IS.... I love to hunt them. Like MO says, it' s the experience of the hunt that gets me. I don' t need a turkey so bad I have to short change myself and the hunt by settling for a sleeping bird. I don' t attempt to stalk, sneak up on them when they won' t come or anything. IF he won' t come to the call and gobble and do his thing he' s safe as far as I' m concerned. Butterballs taste a whole lot better to me and you don' t have all those feathers to mess with.:D
