Fall Turkey in Washington state
Hello All,
I am just stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA and just back from Iraq. I haven't been able to hunt for the last year and a half, and will only get to hunt fall turkey this year. I will be away in Army schools from the end of Oct. 08 until the end of May 09. So I am really looking for some help finding a decent population of turkey in western Washington. I don't have a lot of time for scouting, so any help would be great. Thanks a lot. |

Thank you for your service to our great nation.
Have you picked up the green turkey pamphlet put out by the WDFW? It shows the majorpopulation concentrations around the state... This may not give you specific sites to go to, but at least you'll know where NOT to go or look. |
RE: Fall Turkey in Washington state
Well, your problem is that if you want to have a good shot at getting a bird you need to go to eastern Washington. Around Collville would be your best bet. It's about a 5 hour drive from Seattle[:'(] Although there are turkey near Fort Lewis they are very spread out and if you have noticed the area is very thick with underbrush. There is no hunting oppertunities in Western Washington in the Fall. There are only a few GMU's open in the fall and they are in Northeast Washington.

Thanks for the answers. I found that out also, the only units with a fall season are in the north east corner. I guess I will have to make a couple of long trips.
