Scopes & Blinds.... need advice.
Is anyone using a scope? I used a zero powered scope last year & took 2 birds with it but didn' t really like it. Zero power was not sufficient & made things blend together & very hard to see. I loved everything else about using a scope. I' m thinking about going to a 2.5 power Pentax " Lightseeker" Just wanted to know if any of you were using a scope & if so, what type, power ect
Also, thinking about buying a blind for bow hunting turkeys out of & for taking my 2 sons. I have read a lot of good things about the Double Bull blinds but I' m sure there are others out there too. Any advice?? Thanks!! |

If you are good enough to kill one with a bow, you don' t need a scope.

A 2.5X power scope should be perfect!! That' s the very setting I set my variable on as well.;)

I have a 2X Simmons on my turkey gun. Could not be happier with it!!!

I have had a Leupold Vari-X II 1x4 power shotgun scope on my Remington 870 for 10 years now. Haven' t seen anything I would rather have in place of it yet. I usually set it on 1 or 2 power. As far as blinds go, check out the Ameristep Doghouse blinds on www.natchezss.com. They have them for around $100 or so which is a great buy on that particular blind. That' s a whole lot less than for a Double Bull. Good luck!! :)

IMO, the double bull blinds are overkill for turkey hunting unless you get in there really early to set-up, and for me (i will walk several miles chasing turks) it is too much of a hassle.. I use just a 3x12 foot blind, and use sticks and trip wire to set it up.. works great, cheap, and will fold up to fit in a fanny pack. Just my opinion..

I CAN' T REALLY SEE THE NEED FOR A SCOPE FOR TURKEY HUNTING UNLESS YOU HAVE REALLY BAD EYES. IF YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE A GOBBLER AT 40 YARDS AND YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR GUN SHOOTS I DON' T SEE THE POINT. AS FAR AS USING A BLIND I CAN SEE USING ONE IF YOU HAVE A YOUNG HUNTER THAT HAS TROUBLE SITTING STILL TO HELP THE ODDS A BIT OR IF YOU ARE BOW HUNTING. I WATCHED A VIDIO THE OTHER DAY THAT SHOWS BOWHUNTERS USING THE DOUBLE BULL BLIND WITH REALLY GOOD SUCCESS. I THINK THAT ALMOST ANY BLIND SIMILAR WOULD BE JUST AS EFFECTIVE WITH NOT AS MUCH COST.
