Here is my Dad and I from April 24th this year. He is holding the bird I shot and I am holding the bird he shot. The big one is 23lbs with an 11" beard and 1 1/4" Spurs and the other one is 21 lbs with a 10.25" beard and 1 1/8" Spurs. We were back to back on the same tree when these two came in and there was a third. We watched all three spar and gobble for about 20 minutes before they came in close.

I purchased a digital scale 3 years ago and allthough it is not certified I have routinely checked the accuracy and it is within a couple ounces. I was positive we killed some 24-25 lb birds...Once we started weighing every bird I was amazed at how much they actually weigh. 17 longbeards in the past three years in Illinois, and Missouri, the heaviest has been 23 lbs 10 oz, and only 4 total in the 23 lb range. (all longbeards)

So some of you guys have to be damn proud of these big arsed birds!

later,

CS

There should be a seperate group for multiple bearded birds. Here is my biggest single bearded turkey. 29.5 lbs 11 inch beard 1.5&1.25 inch spurs. My grandpa has gotten a couple monter birds. One that had 4 beards and weighed 24 lbs and another that was way over 30 lbs but he took it out back and butchered it[>:]. It dwarfed the bird I got.[&:]

Spurs. Oh and I forgot. This bird had a buddy that had multiple beards and was the same size, but he got shot on the adjacent property. I would have liked to known what it scored. I had both those toms in range during bow season and I MISSED! That will haunt me for a while
