conditioning calls

Okay I went out and bought a SLA-TEK Ol' Yeller. I have a question about conditioning the call. I know this is done with the emory cloth in the package but how do I actually do it and how much? Straight lines or circles? Little or a lot? Do diffferent ways effect the sound differently? Heck it sounds pretty good without doing anything to it. The package though says it should be conditioned but doesn' t say anything about how. Thanks all.

Blood,When I condition a call my thinkin is the rougher the better,I always sand back and forth in a straight line and then when I work my striker I work it against the grain.I guess what I' m sayin is if I sand left to righr I run the striker up and down.

totally agree with the two above me :D

One good thing about the Ol' Yeller is that it is very easy to maintain after your intial conditioning. I will touch it up every now and then with a greenie meanie (military term for the 3m/scotch pad)
