New To Turkey Hunting

I am going to try my luck at turkey hunting this spring for the first time. I have an old Coast to Coast 20Ga. Will this be good enough for a wise old Tom? Will 3in.#6 work? Thanks for your advice.

The first 2 birds I harvested were both taken with a 20 guage. Its plenty enough gun as long as you use your head and dont take too far of a shot. Pattern your gun, and know how it will perform before you go out , and you should be just fine. Good luck!

20ga. will work fine if you keep your shots close.a 3" 20ga. is the same as a 2 3/4 12ga and there has been thousands take with 12ga.
pattern your gun with different shells.#6 works well in the one I had, took several with it. I never shot past 25yrds.that keeps you waiting on the right shot.
good luck in your hunts.

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

20 ga is perfectly fine for turkey hunting. I killed a turkey last year with a 20 ga at 26 steps, but i wouldnt shoot past 30 yards with it, and no 6s would be fine as long as you pattern your gun with them. and also try different loads, to see what load your gun shoots the best.

Good Luck This Spring!!!!!!

WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION, AND YOUR 20 GAUGE WILL DO JUST FINE BUT DON'T STRETCH THE LIMIT OF YOUR GUN. MAKE SURE YOU PRACTICE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN NOT ONLY THE SHOOTING PART BUT WITH YOUR CALLS. BEST OF LUCK AND HUNT SAFE
