What will you do different?
 

I don't know about you guys but I learn something new everytime I take to the woods. I was just wondering what some of you will do differently next year. New calls, different areas, different techniques, new gear........ For me, I'm going to scout more in the preseason. I was really satisfied with all my equipment for my first year but I am going to a Bad Boy Buggie demo in 2 weeks. I have to learn to be more patient and sit in one spot longer. And finally, I need to work on learning what call to use and when to use them. I didn't call much on my first year of turkey hunting and it paid off, "I think". So, what about y'all ? Anything new in the works for 09?

If you have more than one turkey gun... And one shoots better than the rest... Take the one that shoots the best pattern lol

I'm takin only one hen deek, and one call. I'm tossing my vest, I'm tossing that blind, I'll keep the chair thing I use, and I'm not gonna take a gun for 1 stinkin day. next year, Its all basic bow hunting. I may even buy a recurve to do it.

As of yesterday, our lease ended and the guy who put it together and some of his buddies have decided not to renew it... so the first thing I need is a place to hunt... I think I'll start there.

The other thing I'm going to do differently is think about myself a little bit more. I know that sounds crappy, but I spent so much time playing guide and host this year I hardly got to hunt for myself any. Granted, I called in birds for my two favorite people, and did shoot one myself finally Thursday (pictures and story forthcoming), but it was a hassle trying to deal with all the folks who wanted me to take them... I offered to take a few folks and thats fine I enjoy it... but it got out of hand after a while. I guess I need to learn how to say no!

I think next year I'll try to get out of bed and hunt the mornings.I guess I'm lazy cause I never tried it.:)

Yeah that.... I have this weekend coming up and I'm gonna take it for myself. I went camping with the kiddo this weekend, which really needed to happen, I still had guys calling me wanting to go out, even to have their wives watch my kid.....
So, I drank a bunch of beer and told them I wasn't fit to hunt anymore.

I will shoot the next Indiana gobbler thats within 50 yards. I learned this year he had a comfort zone while with hens. He was at 50 yards and wouldnt come closer. I should have shot him once I knew he wasnt coming, even though his hens stood by my decoys...

I really need to do a bunch of pre-season scouting and locate some birds. This season there wasn't a whole lot of gobbling going on but I understand that they were going bonkers before the season started.
