Loading a muzzleloading shotgun
I'm new to the muzzleloading shotgun thing here and was hoping for some pointers. What is the best way to get the overshot cap or whatever its called seated properly? I've had it turn sideways a couple times while loading. I'm currently using a Knight TK2000 and was also hoping for some recommended loads you guys are using. I have been using no. 5's with 100 grain of 777 with musket caps. Thanks for the help.

RE: Loading a muzzleloading shotgun
How does it pattern.
I use a fiber type over powder wad - a plastic shot cup purchased from Ballistic Products ( Google them) and then take half a fiber wad - (wad is about 1/2 thick splits easily with your thumb) and use that for my over the shot wad. Rule of thumb to start is equal powder and equal amount of shot. My Pedroselli patterns well with 100 grains Pyrodex RS and a 1.5 ounces of #6 copper plated lead shot. It is the shot cup that really helps the pattern. And I kknow what you mean with those file card thin over shot cards - they suck! JW |
