RE: good turkey signs??

i would like to get some experience calling to something besides my wife, do you think it would hurt to call a little bit while i am out scouting? the birds here in stokes county,nc are already hollerin up a storm in the morning time. the owner of the property i hunt says he hears them every morning for the last few weeks. i appreciate the info about the roads b/c there are a couple real good paths through the property.

To answer two of your questions: First, turkeys will do what they want to do but it is easier to get them to come up hill than to go down hill. For that reason I think its good to start listening on high ground you can hear better and then move down if necessary. Second, practice calling at home, in the car or anyplace but in the woods where there are turkeys. All you are going to do is educate the birds that when they hear that call and go to investigate, they either find a hunter or nothing and in either case it will be harder to get them to return. Good Luck.
