First turkey

http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/nn15/rookie51/?action=view&current=IMG_08882.jpg

After a long hunt saterday at hoosier national and an afternoon hunt on tuesday i finally saw my fisrt bird weds morning. We sat up in the middle of where we heard at least 3 seperate birds gobbling. We had two hens in the roost 20 yds or so infront of us. I was thinking that if i was going to see a gobbler it would be in front of me coming towards the hens or the field. 5:55 the hens are still on the roost and i just happen to catch a glimpse of something moving along the field line behind me. As soon as could tell it was legal i got my sights on him and took the shot when he took half a step into a clearing. The shot caused the hens to fly off the roost. So in one morning i shot my first tom and witnessed for the first time one flying off the roost. To say the least it was a good morning. He had 8 in beard 7/8 long spurs. Sorry about the bad pic the bird was wet and wasnt real sure on how to hold it.

Great bird! Don't worry about not knowing how to hold it yet, keep it up and you should have lots of practice posing with them;)
