A Kick's .655 choke has worked really well out of every remington I've shot. I've owned 5 different ones the past few years, never changed chokes. That choke with any Winchester Load is a solid combo.

A good gun def, before going and buying a expensive choke I'd try remingtons super full tky choke, which iswhat I use, and also I shoot Remington Premier tky loads 3.5in number 4's copperplated bufferd loads.

I've had an 11-87 for close to 20 years. To be honest I have never missed a turkey that was within 50 yards of me with it. I use no special chokes. Just the full choke that came with the gun. Never had it jam on me either. Can't ask for much more from a shotgun.

Steve, is your 11-87 unusually heavy?

I know there are considerably lighter shotguns out there these days, but it's not like I want to shell out $1000 plus for a new gun for the few times a year I get to go out after turkeys. My 11-87 might be a bit on the heavier side, but it has worked just fine when the turkeys have shown themselves, so I don't think a new lighter gun would make much difference.

After looking into them a little more i think im going to go with the remington 870 sps shurshot synthetic turkey its cheaper and i dont really need the semit auto you should only need one shot any way right lol

Good choice.

I tend to break with tradition a bit... I personally think the 1187 super mag is a total piece of crap.

I use one as a backup, I threw a cheapo truglochoke in it with remington #5 3 inch loads and it patterns just fine

Same here....... mine is my main turkey gun, it only shoots 3" shells and it works great

I think a 10ga. is the same as a 3.5" 12ga., I don't think there is really difference
Both will kill a tom and I shoot both. Believe me, there is a great deal of difference. 9 times out of 10, my SP-10 goes with me to the turkey woods.
