2 days in MA... 2 Wet Toms.
 

All tagged out the first 2 days here in MA. Very nasty weather. Pouring rain both days. Took a nice 21.5 lb, 7/8" & 1" spur, 9.5" beard. Score this AM. Very rainsoaked. Never made a sound. Walked into me @ 7am this morning.

Opening day Tom 17.5 lb, 1/2" spurs, 8" beard. He is very wet too! Couldn't get a gobble after birds came down off of the roost. Walked up on he and 2 others right at noon as they were coming out to the field to feed. Right place right time

Congratulations, that is absolutely amazing. I live in California now butwas born in Pittsfield and grew up in Lenox in the 50's and 60's and you would have had as much chance of seeing bigfoot in the woods as a turkey back then. Maybe I should move back to the Berkshires.

SP... the turkey & bear hunting in the Berkshires is very good these days. Deer hunting has gone down hill, but is starting to come back a bit. Most of the good land (esp. south county) is now privately owned (primarily by New Yorkers) and is posted up very tightly. Tough to find permission anywhere south of Lee.

I didn't hunt much south of Lee but in Lenox as a kid in the 1960's I never had any problems gettingpermission from land owners to hunt on their property. On the other hand, instead of turkeys and bears, about the best we could hope forwere rabbits and woodchucks, which most property owners, particularly ones with vegetable gardens, considered pests.
