3 days of turkey action

I hunted 3 days in a row with action each day,:)but no birds on the ground[&:]

Fri-Ohio-Birds EVERYWHERE off the roost. Only one close enough to work. Did so for a couple hours to no avail. Moved on to a different area and struck one up around 1030-1100. He come in and circled me well out of range of my longbow. But a hen walked right up to the dekes. [&:]

Sat-PA- Quiet start, only one cluster of birds gobbling on one ridge far away. 745 a real nice gobbler storms into my setup full strut and putting on a show. Perfect scenerio I been waiting for to get a good shot with my longbow, and I blow it. [:@]Got a little flustered and really rushed the shot not focusing and only got a few feathers. He really didn't spook. Walked about 30 yds away and went back to strutting for a couple more minutes.

Sun-Ohio- This time carrying the 870. DEAD morning. Went on the prowl looking for a gobbler to play. Happened upon some turkeys walking down over the hill(heard them walking & scratching) I duck quickly to the nearest tree in poor cover, wide open woods. It was going to be tough. I called softly& they took thier sweet ole time getting there. Head finally pops up over the ridge...gobbler. But I hesitated to shoot without seeing a beard. 2nd head pops up and within seconds they pick me out & spook. I kneel up to see clearer, catch sight of a beard and try a shot at the slower one as theymoved off. Clean miss. Upon checking up I spooked 3 more birds down over the hill about 40 more yds.

Well, that sounds like a lot of fun! I know, getting the job done is even more fun, but you just gotta love when your in turkeys all morning long. :D

Did the gobbler on saturday come in silent..? Did he even gobble on the roost..? How did he go from being way out to storming in and you didnt hear him anywhere between there..?

He came in silent. No birds gobbled from roost within 600 yds of me if not more. The onesthat did gobblewere all WELL across the road. He was not one of them. He even came walking down the grass of the powerline so I couldn't even hear him walking. The only noise I heard was his drumming.
