Last minute advice
Well, I've let the fields that I've been seeing all the toms in rest for 4 days now but intend to try it again in the morning. My blind is set up in a strip of woods between the two fields. The field edges are about 12 yards from the blind. They do seem to respond to the decoys that I set out last week. My friend came by this afternoon and gave me 4 more decoys. So here's what I have to work with. 1 B-Moble, 1 She- Mobile, 2 standing inflatable hens, 1 feeding inflatable hen and 1 inflatable jake. How would you set up the decoys? I thought about the Primos decoys in one field and the jake and a hen in the other field. BTW, I can shoot both fields from my position. Sorry to aggrivate you guys to death, just want to get that 1st bird behind me. Thanks in advance.

RE: Last minute advice
ok here is what i would do..
1st field--b-mobile, she-mobile and feeding hen 2nd field-- jake with 2 hens. as long as you keep the jakes seperate you should be good to go. |
RE: Last minute advice
dont worry about asking. that is one of the best ways to gain knowledge. ask away my man.:D

RE: Last minute advice
I suppose that would work well.I'd put the contented hen (she mobile) with a jake decoy and a feeding or even an upright hen with B-Mobile. Most of the gobblers are going to come to b-mobile if they think the hen ain't all that into him, or if they think they can lure him away.... and conversely if a gobbler sees a jake about to breed a hen..... better have the safety off!
Just remember, once the birds are insight of your decoys (especially inside 100 yards) I'd keep the call quiet. Thats not an insult to a novice either, because thats exactly what I do. I treat them just like ducks. Turkeys and ducks can pinpoint exactly where a noise is coming from, and if it ain't from the decoys.... spook city. |
