RE: I' m confused
So how far down the neck should I count pellets? Just the boney areas?
I actually I tried some 2-3/4" #4' s and they did alot better than I thought they would. They pattern great out to 30 yards, but not any further. |
RE: I' m confused
Here is a pattern I shot out of my 1300 using a Tru-Glo choke and Winchester High Velocity 3" 1 3/4oz of #5' s at 40 yards. If you look closely, the pattern is slightly to the left and low. I removed the deer barrel from this gun and placed my 21" turkey barrel on it. At this time I still had to re-sight in the crosshairs. This is just an idea of a half way decent pattern. I now have to try out that new Rhino choke and that Nitro hevishot. (I have to add here that the Remington 3" Hevishot 1 1/2oz load of #5' s did better that the winchester load.)

RE: I' m confused
You also might download a turkey head and neck target off the net. It will give you a little bit more of a picture of where your pattern is located, and just how much of the vitals you are really hitting.

RE: I' m confused
KHM you really should get your self a pattern like Maytom is showing and pattern your gun on one. They will take all the guess work out of patterning your gun.

RE: I' m confused
I downloaded the turkey target you can get at ammoman.com. I shot at it with the hevi-shot at 40 yards, maybe someone can post it here for me so you guys can take a look at it?
