RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
:DThe cool but not cold mornings. Listening to the woods come alive at daybreak.
The smell of everything greening around you. Not hearing the wife say " Since you arnt hunting now, how about helping me with the grocery shopping, and raking the yard, and cleaning the bathroom, and and and................." !!!!!!!![:' (] |

It' s a lot of things for me. Seeing those first buds pop out of the trees around my house. I cant wait to hear that first gobble. Listning to the woods come a live in the morning. Hearing those wipper wills in the evenings and hearing those little peepers sounding of really gets me fired up. I just love the whole spring thing!!!!!!!:D

I love to set and watch and listen to the world awaken.all the birds starting to cherp and flitter around.the sun start to peak it nose out, then the big roll of a gobbler sounding off.
Anyone that has never sat and watched the world wake up has missed a great experence.[&:][&:] |

No doubt it is the gobble! I live to hear it, especially on a still, cool, and crisp morning.

Turkey season is the first camping trip of the year for me. I stay anywhere from 3 to 7 days, all cosy in my wall tent with wood stove. Here in Oregon we can have 60 - 70 degree days, or snow like last year. I just really enjoy spending the springtime comming to life around you. New sprouts, all sorts of animals and the promise of warmer weather.:D

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
For me it is seeing the wonders of nature. While I was fly fishing this past summer I saw a hawk swoop down and take out a rather large trout. Left me in awe. Also, while out scouting deer, I saw rather two bucks in a full rutt battle. Awsome sight. Can' t beat the wonders of nature!!!

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
I like it all, God really knew what he was doing when he made the woods and the wild turkey.
|
RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
the whole thing.. the thing i like most is getting to look forward to the whole thing right now!! (other than the actual hunt;))

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
You guys have pretty well covered it all for me. The one unique thing about spring turkey hunting for me is that I' m not concentrating on anything else but that. In the fall you have doves, deer, ducks, geese, turkey again, elk, etc. My focus is all on a wild turkey.
I enjoy watching the woods progressively green up from March through May. I love praying in the dim light of the early morning and getting a little distracted by hearing the wild waking up. |
RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
I ejoy the turkey woods quite a bit, however my real passion for spring is that fall is just around the corner:)

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
After going through long, usually harsh winters here in NY. Its that first morning I' m at my camp in April. Up before daylight, and out onto the open porch to just sit, and hear those first wonderful spring sounds of songbirds, few owl hoots, crows, and then the good ol' GRUBBLE-GRUBBLE! Off I go to locate this tom, and scout his routine pattern after fly down. It just builds even more anticipation for the turkey opener!!

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
After this long winter I will be looking forward to the color GREEN!!!

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
i just love it all..the sights..the sounds...the smell of the spring air....nothing can compare....nothing sounds like the woods waking on a spring morning...owls going to bed...grouse drumming...tweetie birds singing....then that one sound...the great gobble...nothing can compare to spring mornings...the air is so nice and everything thats worrying you or anything like that is gone...its like nothing else matters now...i love sitting in the sun and warming up....and love napping and being woken by a gobbler that heard my calls before i dozed off in the warm sun...nothing can compare to a spring morning when everything is perfect...

Being off work 4 three weeks! Seriously tho, 2 me turkey hunting is Whip-or-wills sounding off endlessly at near first lite, cardinals jumpin in with their cadence. Just the fresh smel;l of the spring green-up.[:o]

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
[&:]Sharing the thrill of the hunt and the wonder of God' s creatures with my two best hunting buddy' s. This year my 10 year old daughter will join us. I only hope she will learn to appreciate all of these things that pull so deeply on my soul.

RE: What do you like most about spring gobbler season?
I also like to see the new growth of plants and to hear the song birds singing in the morning. Theirs a big difference from spring and fall. During the spring, i can spend more time in the woods because it gets dark much later then in the fall. i get like 3 more hours to hunt in the spring then during the fall for deer. I also like the cool but not cold mornings and night. We barley need any wood in the stove at camp to keep it warm.
