My First Rio...
 
Well, I knew it would happen sometime, shot my first Rio... We don't have them in my native state of NY so It was kind of a big deal to me...
Shot him on public property in a 35 mph Kansas wind....

All my Kansas birds have been Public... With that wind.... I was tryin to keep my decoy on the ground.... loading the inside with cornstalks....

Hey, Nice bird!I gotta question though: I've looked at pictures of Rio's and for the life of me can't tell a Rio from an Eastern. I've looked on the map and it seems they're very predominant west of the Mississippi River so it's not a geographic thing as is the Osceola. So, what's the difference between the Eastern and Rio? Thanks!

Thay have a significant more white in the tail and I think the head looks bigger, with more green in it... I noticed there was alot more purple hue in the feathers are well..
