Ol' Yeller

I bought a brand new Ol Yeller slate 2 nights ago, yesterday was the opening day here for gun and I took a friend of mine out.... It was tough, rain, wind (30mph), cold, thunder and lightning... But the birds were active so we stayed out.. I tried to keep the slate call dry by holding it under my rain coat and using it sparingly, mostly using the new waterproof box.
I hit the slate on one note and it cracked, then broke completely in the center!!!!
I've never seen anything like it....
Anyone else have any idea why that would happen? Material defect? cold?

No clue. I'd contact K&H, they'll probably replace it for you. Bummer, those calls are pretty decent usually.
