Which locator call?

This will be my first year of turkey hunting. I live in SW Michigan. I've been doing some scouting on my friend's farm where I'll be hunting. We've seen plenty of turkeys there in the past. Recently, I've found plenty of tracks, scratches, droppings etc. I've tried my crow call a few times from the edge of the woods from the fieldsaround sunrise or sunset, but haven't heard any gobbles. I have avoided thewooded areamostly to avoid stiring things up. I haven't been able to find a roost area. Should Itry an owl call or something else, or just plan on hunting the feeding aread I've found?Any help would be great.

Defiently try a hoot flute or something during the dawn or dusk hours, and hunt the feeding area too. Get up in those woods if you have too, that is where they will be roosting. Be careful and walk slow. As long as you dont go riding through there in a bulldozer you cant hurt much.

Try an owl call in the early morning and evening. I never have much luck with the crow.

you never know what will make them gobble. If you get there in the AM and they gobble when you slam your truck door, don't worry about crow or owl, woodpecker, hawk, coyote calls or air horns ;)

Thanks for the tips guys. Guess I need to go call shopping. My wife says I own calls to talk to every kind of animal there is, but I could also use one more.

When I scout at night, I drive up and shut the engine off, lay on the horn and listen in....

I use an owl call in the morning right at first light. I can actually sound a lot better than most owl calls out there with my mouth, so I dont own an owl call. Then for afternoons I have a primos power crow. It sounds pretty good.
