RE: What is your Favorite Box CALL ?
I think you'll get a few responses to this thread. The realism of a good box in the rt. hands is hard to beat. I've got over 30 of them long boxes, short boxes, one siders, etc. My favorite is my Lamar Williams Butternut.

RE: What is your Favorite Box CALL ?
i usually don't go to the box call unless i really want to crank up the volume. I must admit there have been several times i've been in the woods and heard some loud squawky yelps and thought "who is that guy butchering that box call?" and had it turn out to be a hen. The only box call i have now is the quaker boy hurricane. It is one of those calls that does have chalk and is supposed to be waterproof but i really like the sound it makes dry and i never have to worry about chalking it up. I have been looking into getting one of those long box calls, not for any reason other then i think they are kinda cool (god knows i don't need anymore calls) and I was wondering if anyone had one they would recommend...a fairly inexpensive one since i'm on a student budget

RE: What is your Favorite Box CALL ?
I'm not sure how many boxes I have, probably from 15 to 20...
I have a few custom boxes, and one of my favorites is a walnut/butternut box by Bob Harwell... Bob worked with the famous box call maker Neil Cost and learned his craft from him... Still, the one that I pull out of my vest MOST often, and seldom go hunting without, is a 40 year old Lynch Foolproof that I bought in a little sports shop in Corning , NY, years ago.. The guy who owned the store had about a dozen Lynch boxes and he let me open all of the boxes ( that was BEFORE blister packs) and try all of the calls to see which one I liked the best... It cost $17.... |

RE: What is your Favorite Box CALL ?
i've had good luck with the primos lil heartbreaker, the only box call i've ever own. sounds good, easy to use. it is a one sided call if that makes a difference.i've never liked the idea of owning alot of calls. much easier to decide which one to use. if i want a different sound i have a 2 sided slate and a handful of different strikers.
