Best Locater Call

what do you guys think the all aroundbest call is to locate a turkey.
For me its hard to beat my grave digger boat paddle, loud and high pitched always seems to get those tight lipped bird to give away their position, second would be a pilieated woodpecker

Crow call works well for me.

Crow call works best for me also. Starting calling hard, the turkey will respond, and you will call more crows in, then you don't have to call anymore b/c the other crows will start going at it.

During the day, Hawk..........Dusk or Dawn, Owl..

I have tried both the hawk and owl. The hawk worked but not very consistently. The owl didn't work where I hunt. There aren't many owls here anyway. The crow was by far the most consistent.

If there is one nearby, a train always works well..:) If not a crow call works for me...

Train whistle definitely works, so does a truck door or horn-although I wouldnt recommend that :D. If a bird is hot enough, he'll hammer off at just about anything. Early mornin I usually hoot with my mouth, mid day either a crow or woodpecker call does well for me.

We have a lot of hawks and owls around here and havn't had one gobbler when I've tried. I've found slamming my truck door, dropping something in the bottom of my boat, and coughing to work really good! I know, I know! LOL

While I almost exclusively use a H.S. Hammerin' Crow, I will use a diapraghm call occasionally when the birds have already hit the ground and I'm looking for a response. Anything will work though, a truck door slamming, yelling yourself. Heck even a bottle rocket or fire cracker would work, but i dont advise it.

The first time I used an owl call two big owls landed in the tree above me... Owl calls have not produced very well for me....that is for gobblers. The crow call has performed better and the hawk call on occasion..

One year the truck door seemed to work well and there was another time a rusty gate would get a gobble..

I think when they are in the mood almost any loud noise will cause them to respond instantly.

If one call don't work try another and another till you get results.

A REAL peacock works the best(I have peacocks on ym farm, as well as turkeys), also, me yelling GOBBLE-GOBBLE-GOBBLE, and I also like to use a Squirrel Barker, works great.

Interesting to see what works in different areas. I like the owl early and late. I like a box call after that. The turkeys here don't seem to respond well to crow calls. They rarely gobble at the wild ones and haven't had any luck with a call. In NE and KS I did have luck with the crow call.

I use a Primos barred owl reed type call. It is loud and rarely does it not work.

i prefer an owl hooter, its usually pretty consistent and fires up the gobblers around here. a close second would be a coyote howler. it seems to just set them off for some reason

A loud Turkey Box Call works best for me. Never had much luck with crow or owl calls.

I have always had great results using a duck call. Seriously it works, especially late in the season when the birds have heard every crow and owl call known to man.

Another vote for a crow call.

I have one you all can try, a Canada goose call. I hunt river bottoms on public ground. I use a Haydel's goose call the all thetime. It works as a pre dawn locator, mid day, and roost locator. They never drop off in the late season likea crow or owl call because of over usage. Can't beat it.
