Default Ol'Tom Cassanova Improvement

I liked the idea of the Ol'Tom Cassanova. Like some of you, I have struggled with the portability of the b-mobile and the ease of use for the pretty-boy. The Ol'Tom Cassanova seemed to have both aspects. However, the tail was attached using six buttons. (I found the same decoy under a different name at Dick's Sporting Goods. It was called Lodge Outfitters Combo. It was the hen and Cassanova for $70.)

Anyway, I compared all three in the store. The Cassanova is more flexible than the b-mobile. The only problem was that the tail attachement buttoned on with six pesky buttons. I couldn't imagine trying to do it in a hurry or in the dark. That's when the idea hit me. VELCRO.

I went to Wal-Mart and bought some heavy duty velcro with heavy duty adhesive.

Check it out.

This thing folds up tighter than the b-mobile and NOW has the ease of setup as the prettyboy.

See what you think.

Here is the back of the decoy. One piece of velcro is missing to show where I cut off the buttons.

Since you went with the velcro idea, you could mount real fan feathers on a backing (cardboard??? Something waterproof??) velcro it to the deke and then you would have a even more realistic deke. I love the molded feathers, they look pretty good.

Now what sporting good store has the LODGE stuff...hmmm

firelt72, It comes with the attachment for the real fan. I think I can velcro that one, too.

Strutter20, I have seen pictures of the flambeau, but I haven't touched it yet. I waited to compare them. My season starts this Saturday, I couldn't wait any longer. I have some of feather flex decoys that are great at being lightweight, but they loose thier shape easy, too. I was very interested in the King strut, but since nobody has them down here, I had to go with what I could touch. I had the prettyboy, b-mobile, and this one all in the same room. So, I went with this one. I'd love to see a write up on the king strut, as I will love to make a write up on this one. This is the first year of the Cassanova, so we'll see how those colors work out.
