What vest?

I am looking into a new vest for this upcoming season. I have it down to two: Redhead striker turkey vest and the Hunter's specialties vest with the gun stock buddy. Which one of these two would you choose if you had to? If you want to suggest another vest i would like them to be in a Realtree Pattern and be $75 or under. Thanks.

This is like a good pair of boots: You have to try them on and see whats going to fit you right. To me, the most important part is probably where the pockets are located, followed by the thickness of the padded seat.

I saw the gun stock loop on the HS Strutt and think its a great idea. I've got a foot long piece of rope I'll tie a knot in and loop around the strap of my vest to accomplish the same end.

Go to the store and try'em on. Sit down up againest a wall display or something just like you would when you are turkey hunting.

Welcome to HNI!

Not trying to sway you, but I gave up the vest half way through last season. I went to a butt pack. I like the reduction in weight and I run and gun a lot. I would actully look at Ol' Tom vest too, they are well within that range and hear talk about them on this and other forums.

Hey, Funny you should post this. I just found the HS Strut SUV vest on cabelas.com for 29.99. I paid 70 bucks last year for it. I absolutely love this vest. Its well made and there is a ton of storage. Two of my hunting buddies just ordered thiers when I told them about them. Even at 70 bucks its still a great vest, now that its 29.99 you cant beat it. one thing that I love about it is that they have different sizes. Im 5ft 11in 155lbs and the Sm/Med fits me like a glove. I cant way enough good things about this vest...heck I even bowhunt with it.

I've been wearing the Mossy oak Elite III vest now for the last 2-3 seasons, I have upgraded to that over the original Elite vest that I had for many seasons. One thing I like a lot in vest is pocket space, and I mean a lot of "zippered" pocket for everything. The original Elite came with 20 pockets, and I believe the newer ones come with 19. As you can see, I'm a huge fan of the Mossy oak Elite III style of turkey vest. Like some others, I use to own fanny paks before as well, but they always seemed to slip down my waist and ended up being more of a hinderance. I tossed the back pack idea around as well for a couple of years, butin the end, an actual vest is still the way to go in my opinion.;)

Last year I bought the cabela's Super Tater. I love it. It will set you back about 90 bucks for the new one, super tatr II. I have had cheaper vests. Like most things, you get what you pay for. However, I completely agree with Swamp. Try them on. I personally have not been impressed with things that carry the Redhead name brand. It seems like the Wal-mart stuff with the basspro label. Cabela's brand stuff seems to be made just for them.

I just bought a new vest about an hour ago. Cabelas.com has the Primos Gobbler vest on sale for $39 bucks. When they first came out they were like 75-80 bucks. I thought they were real nice then but couldn't justify $80 for a new vest when my old one at home worked just fine. $39 bucks was much easier to talk myself into however haha
