Hunted turkeys long before decoys were on the market with sucess, but I do currently use decoy unless there is just not time, terrain and distance to get set up. If I had to chose between a call or a decoy I would take a call and hunt without decoys. I would change tactics without a decoy...

I seem to use dekes more on the roost set up in the morn. After that if I am moving around looking for birds I may carry one hen and may or may not use it.

I alweays have one in my vest but I don't always use it. When folded up and covered with a shirt, it's make a great pillow fora mid-morning nap during those turkey activity low points :D

I, like alot of other turkey hunters, use decoys at times and at other times dont. I think it is important to have them and use them sometimes and there are times when they dont work.

I own a pair - a hen and jake (Gertrude and Heathcliff), but haven't used either one of then in several years. I carried Gertrude, off and on, for years and only killed ONE bird over her, and I think I would've gotten him anyway. So, no, I don't waste the time, weight, and space anymore. I do miss the pillow, though.

I always have them with me, but don't always use them. I let the situation dictate. Later on in the season, when hunting the fields of the eastern US I think decoys tend to hang birds up more often than not. But in some hunting situations I think they help a lot too. All depends on where and how you hunt, and how pressured your birds are.

I like using one, if for nothing else to draw the turkey's attention away from where I am sitting.

Since last year I quit using decoys. WAY too many times have I called in a nice tom and have him hang up and strut out of range waiting for the "hen" to come to him. The first day i left them home it payed off. I cranked a nice tom that day. Called him in and made him actually "look" for the hen.

I always have them when bowhunting and use them about 60/40. When shotgun hunting I leave them at home. Just extra stuff to carry and don't see much benefit when gun hunting. Even though I hunt most all private ground I never liked the idea of sitting in full camo making turkey sounds behind a fake turkey during the gun season.

I have a couple, but they spend most of their time in the vehicle when I don't feel like hauling them out in the woods. Have yet to use one on a successful hunt.

I own quite a few but don't use any of them. They're too much of a hassle for me, even the blow up ones or other ones that set up easy. It seems like I worry too much about placement and not my own setup. Many times where I hunt there are multiple toms hammering off gobble after gobble, so even if I did prepare a certain spot and setup, I might want to go after a different tom once I get to my land and hear him talking. Seems like I need backup after backup, so I usually just wing it. Worryin about setting up decoys gets on my nerves, and I hate carrying em with me. I'll sell you mine, I don't use them.

I do not use one in the woods, however I will in open areas.

I have found that Toms hang up quicker in the woods when they see my sexy betty decoy, so i do not use her in woods. Think about it...he will come looking for you if he see's nothing....but when he see's the deke....what happens next (usually) HE STARTS STRUTTIN!
