Turkey hunting with a bow!
I got my first Turkey tag here in Wisconsin and I want to use my Bow. I was wondering what type of Broadheads you would use for this? Same as deer? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks.

RE: Turkey hunting with a bow!
I just got my Double bull blind and the video with it is awesome on turkeys. They use rocket bh but I am going to use my thunderhead 100s same as for elk. These guys are incredible and have a headshot club and show several headshots on gobblers. Good luck.

Good luck on your bowhuntin.
I have used muzzy 100gr with success. but, I'm goin with rocket sidewinder 100gr this spring. their 1 1/2" cut, which is what you need for those turkeys, a wider head. ps- I wouldn't try a headshot with a bow Ward Burton-- Daytona 500 winner-- go Cat-22 Edited by - bogobble on 02/10/2003 09:27:31 |

BowHuntingFool,
Gonna try my luck with a bow this year too! Got the blind, and I will be using 100gr Muzzy. Good luck! Der Jagd Meister aka [email protected] |

BHF, you actually want a larger cut for turkey
than you do for deer...the bigger the better. That is why mechanicals are so popular for turkeys. Any BH will do the job if put in the right place, but I'd recommend one with a 1 1/2" cut or larger. I've seen excellent results with NAP's Spitfires and Gobbler Getters, both have a 1 1/2" cut. Rocket actually makes a mechanical for turkeys with a 3 1/2" cut! I can't think of it's name but a few of the guys at my bowshop used it last year with great success. The hole that thing leaves is unbelievable...they all said their gobblers dropped on the spot without flopping or taking a step. I am strongly considering this BH this spring after losing a gobbler each of the last two seasons....even had one fly away with my arrow in him. Good Luck TB |

Two Beards gives good advice I also feel that mechanicals work real well on turkeys. The big cuts help anchor them down.

RE: Turkey hunting with a bow!
i found out during deer season that you can shhot right threw the screen blind material and it will not effect your accuracy. just thought it might help you not get busted. anothher thing if your gunna shoot threw your blind dont use mechanical heads(they open when they pass threw the material.) but rather a fixed blad with a muzzy grasshopper on it.
