Primary call

1.Whats the first call you bust out with opening day? 2.What is your back up call?

RE: Primary call

The first TYPE of call or the first KIND of call?

The type of call has a 85% chance of being a Woodhaven.

The kind of call might be a pot style call or a mouth call. Or maybe even a locator call. Just depends on the circumstances.

Welcome to the forums by the way! Great bunch of folks here with VAST knowledge and experiences! Again, welcome. :D

start with a slate softly and then move to my mouth call. I will use several glass calls, a couple of box calls, and numerous mouth calls throughout the season.

Slate and Mouth. which one I use first depends on how close I am to the birds.

I'll start out with a slate probably. No need to get my mouth call all soaked just yet. Once I've got a bird working I'll finish it (hopefully) with a mouthcall.

Mouth call. Every now and then I'll start out with a friction call, but my primary call is a mouth call.

My primary call for locating birds would be my mouth call. My primary call for making sweet talk when a bird is coming is my slate call.

My primary call would be my slate call. My "back up" would be my mouth call

Start off with a pot or slate call softly. Once or twice after Ihve located and the Tom knows I m there.
Go to a box later after fly down.
Always have a mouth for that finish touch if needed!

My primary mouth call is a 2.5 reed by Denny Gulvas. The backup call is the 4 reed by Denny Gulvas to give the deep raspy calls of an experienced hen.

This, I made 3 springs ago.

Then my new wing bone,

Then a Slate call,

Then A Slay tek,

Then my mouth calls.

Hopefully one of them will work.

It sounds sweet.
Kinda like an older mature hen.

I was going to make some more of them, but going to school 5 days a week doesn't leave much time LoL
