I don't have any experience with them and I too would like to have some info on strutting decs. The carry-lite don't look dark enough in the picture and the feather flex don't have the snood. ANYBODY??

RE: Full strut decoy

I've got a half strut jake called "Bubba"---to be honest he stays home now, it seems to hang up the tom. Now I have the 3 bird set from "Carry_Lite"-----they work great. I've had boss toms fly down from the roost across the cayon & land rite in the decoys. Get the regular jake & 2 hens.

I hunt private property & I'm the only one who can hunt there. Also the rancher & myself are the only ones with a key for the locked gate.

These are Merriam's I hunt--- no expierience with Eastern or Rio's. And not enough money for the Fla bird!!!!:)

I tried one and the gobblers would
hangup 60 yards out. I guess it was
TOO intimidating. I switched back to the
smaller jake and had much better success.
I have never had a gobbler hang up on my
2 hen 1 jake setup.

I wouldent use a full strut decoy. After all , the toms are looking for hens in the spring and dont want to mess with a tom when they can have hens. Those full strut decoys will just heing the toms up. And are also dangerouse with other hunters near-by because you will probably be using gobbles when you are using a tom decoy and with that you will be lureing in other hunters so its dangerous.

id half to agree with brokenbucket, ive thought bout gittin one but i wont anymore. i might do a jake decoy along with my hens, and probably will, but a full strut jes dont sound real safe

I also have used "Bubba" (half strut) and had bad results. Twice I had birds spook from it, the only two times I used it. I no longer take it along.

Like Colorado Bob, I use the Carry Lite dekes, and I've had the jake shot at by another hunter. I hunt public ground, and there is NO WAY I'd use a gobbler in strut deke here in PA.

I have used the half strut bubba with pretty good results. I havenot had any birds hanng up because of it. Last year we shot a Tom that was coming into the decoy with a posture that made me sure he was planning on giving that jake a pounding. I usually position the bubba right behind or on a hen decoy. I think that really aggravates the more mature toms. It does so around here at least.
