Bead Removal?

I am planning on getting some new sights for my turkey gun and many that I have looked at have a rear sight that clamps down to the rib and the front sight looks like it has a single sight in front that has a screw that secures it where the bead would be. Does the bead on shotguns unscrew or do only certain models allow you to do this? Thanks for any help.

I just butted my new truglos right up agaist my existing bead in the front. It looks like my front bead has a REAL small nut on it.

The bead on my mossberg unscrews. Not sure on the remington.

Every one I know who fitted after-market sights to their shotgun just fit them behind, but against the front bead. You're after accuracy, but still you're not trying to shoot the peter off a 'skeeter at 300 yards. The difference made by loosing a 1/2" or so of distance between front and rear should be neglegible (in this application).

safe thing to do is just put the new sights behind the bead if possible...

i know mossbergs midbead is screwed in, pretty sure the front bead is too...

but i know some makers are pressed on....if you look at it, you aughta beable to tell if it will unscrew or not...

Most all are screwed in but you ahve been given great advice - I am another one that just butted my new front sight up to the bead and didn't mess with anything.

It works
