Default Found a gun!

I have been trying to find a Winchester 1300 black shadow with the 22" barrel but with no luck. I went to the gun show at Salem Virginia Saturday and after walking for a couple of hours I finally found a used 1300. It has the 22" barrel but unlike the new ones, has a vent rib and an extended choke tube. On the barrel it says 2 3/4 " and 3" turkey. I was wondering if this was a model that was offered in years past and if anyone could help date it. I only paid 185.00 for it and feel I got a pretty good deal as, except for a couple of scratches, it looks new. I would like to thank Tscott for the suggestion on the show.Don

Good Don! Happy you found one. It was killing me all weekend. I had to drive by that darn Civic Center at least 10 times in the last two days while working and couldn't go in Was really wanting to go in and look at what Trader Jerry had. Place looked packed yesterday.

Hey don the 1300 Black Shadow I own also has the 22" barrel and the vent rib. I bought it last March (March of 2002) for about $215 brand new here in PA it came with the extra full turkey choke from winchester. But mine is not extended except fot the part on the tube that you grab a hold of to remove it. 185 seems like a pretty fair price. I don't know how long they made the black shadow in this configuration but my guess is that it wasn't for more than a year or two. For some reason I remember reading that this was a special makeup so they might have only made it for one year but hey that is just my 2 cents Great gun enjoy it. I love mine

I've got that same gun, but mine is quite a few years old now. My guess is that they recently changed to just the longer barrels, but judging by their web page, that barrel is still made and avail, but for 141 bucks. LOVE my black shadow. You can use that gun to beat decoys into the ground, or as a ball retreiver while golfing and it'll come up firing every time anyway!! For a buck 85, you gotta good deal.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try her out in the next couple of days if this dang wind will die down. The choke tube is a .665 and extends about 2" from the barrel. It doesn't have a name on it so I will try it but I think a new choke tube is in my near future. I have to order one for my boys 20 gauge Remington if I can figure which restriction to get and of course I will need to get me one to Don

If it's a Hastings tube, I'd try it before I paid for another tube.
Hastings tubes are good.

1950KID, I had a Hastings on my 870 super mag and it shot well but not great. I think I got the wrong restriction and it shot about 4" to the right but after putting a 4X Thompson Center scope on it, I got the pattern centered. I will try it and if I get the pattern I'm looking for, I will invest in some other "need" for the season Don
