Thanks a lot to all who replied.
I'mThinking about a skin off, bleached bone look, seperated with beads. Gonna have to find the beads later I guess, unless anyone has a site to order them.
Awesome pics!

Okay if you like the bleached bone look DO NOT USE BLEACH.

Bones will whiten in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide whihc can be purchased at any ole pharmacy. I know I have it some where as you need to take the spur cap off before you whiten the bone. Once white you just glue it back on.....

I need my other puter dang it - think it is on there.

The bleach as you can see worked fine for me. It will "flake" if you don't coat it with the nail polish however. I just never have any peroxide handy but there is always bleach so that's why, but I guess Peroxide is fine.

Taking the spur cap off and gluing would be a real pain in the butt if you ask me. I don't do this. I put a strip of duct tape down and put the spurs in a row down the strip with the bone sticking out. Then another strip of tape covering the spur the other side. You end up with the spurs covered with the tape in this strip with the bone part hanging out. You can do a whole bunch of spurs at once this way. I then put the solution in a shallow bowl just deep enough to cover the bone and not get the spurs. Hang the tape strip above the bowl ( I put two nails sticking up on either side of the bowl and tape the strip to this) with the bone hanging in the solution. Next morning they are white. Let them dry and polish them.

The first 2 jake's I ever shot is on there and the first bird I ever shot in the US was a jake so it's on there now as well. I have been passing on jakes but that is not to say I wouldn't shoot one again. If I do they go on as well. All are memories of great times regardless of thier length.:)
