RE: Turkey Calls
The best box call is kinda hard. What ever sounds and feels best to you and also the turkey. I have yet to have the pleasure of owning a Paul's Call or a Dad's call but have heard numurous reports of greatness out of both. Have heard each will discuss with you about what you want in a call and go from there. Here are their web addy's....
http://www.paulscalls.com http://www.dadscalls.com I have never used a push button call but have bought a custom call from Richard Shively. It's a scratch box and is wonderful. I have also heard great things about his push button calls. Here's his web addy.... http://www.superyelper.com Some food for thought. I usally carry three to four slate type calls into the woods. With that I carry a good many strikers. A striker will change the sound and tone of a call completey. You might want to also check into some differn't and or custom strikers. Good luck to ya'. RE: Turkey Calls
Where can I get Woodhaven turkey calls.
|
RE: Turkey Calls
Only place I've seen Woodhaven Calls is on...
http://www.midwestturkeycall.com If anyone knows if they have a webpage I would like to know the web address. I have looked around and can't find one to add to my turkey call maker web page. RE: Turkey Calls
Cody slate calls sound so sweet. I would definetly suggest trying one!! I've never been too fond of the push-button calls. All box calls I think will sound a little different. You just have to experiment with them. My only other suggestion would be to learn to like mouth calls. Can't beat 'em especially when that gobbler's close. Good luck!

RE: Turkey Calls
I also use a slate call but it includes an
aluminum surface and a plexi surface also. I have a lohman pump yelper, a box call, and a lohman mouth yelper (works like a crow call where you just puff into the tube.) I have used the mouth yelper in conjuntion with the slate call to bring in gobblers that were hungup. Sometimes a change in frequency or a combination of different calls is all it takes to get that gobbler motivated to come in. |
RE: Turkey Calls
Just got the new Spring 2003 Redhead catalog and they have the Woodhaven friction calls and the new turned strikers.
