Turkey hunting dilema
hi,
i live on a 40 acre farm with a 100 acre farm that we dont ownnext to it. i know there are turkey on these farms. they rotate back and forth from the farms spring to fall. i know that there is (atleast) 1 gobbler and 2 hens. i have herd from neighbors that they have bred and there are chicks. my dilema is that i want to hunt turkey but i am not sure that ishould hunt these turkeys. i just dont want to run out the group. i would like to get a flock of turkeys on the land. what do you guys think i should do? thanks! |

RE: Turkey hunting dilema
I would hunt it. Even if you have a low population of turkeys in you area I don't think taking 1 tom is going to hurt anything.

I would wait a year to grow the flock especially if you have other areas to hunt that have good populations of birds. If you end up killing the only tom in the flock they might leave to find another male to breed them. Just my 2 cents.
