Iowa permit
Howdy ya'll,
I have an opportunity to hunt Iowa this year but have noticed that they award very few permits and mention a point system whereby you get a point each year you don't get a tag. Was wondering; 1. What portion of your doe do they keep if you are an unsuccessful applicant? They mention that some of your application money won't be returned, just wondering how much that is? 2. Does anyone have any experience to share with how long it might take to get a tag? I know it matters on what season and what area you apply but in general? Am I looking at a realistic chance this year or will it take me a few years, or even longer? Any feedback on this would be great |
RE: Iowa permit
I wish I could help you out, but I'm only familiar with resident information. One thing I do know is there are only certain seasons that are open for nonresidents. I think you best bet will be to contact the Iowa DNR.

RE: Iowa permit
Actually as far as the seasons go, Non residents can now hunt any 4 of our seasons. It used to be season 2 was a resident only season but I see they changed that for this year. As far as how the system works, I'm not sure but I've heard its hard to get drawn. Good luck!

RE: Iowa permit
Or fall down on ice while hunting pheasants in Iowa and break 2 maybe 3 ribs (according to Xrays)and tear up a shoulder good too!
But that is another story - never saw so many shades of purple! JW |
