how do tou call turkeys in winter

Want to kill a turkey with my bow, but i cant get them to come to me when i call or even answer. i know they are not breeding right now just want to get them close. is it more about pattering this time of year? should i just leave the call at home? little help please.

You're going to have a heck of a time trying to call in flocks of turkeys, but the best call to use is the kee-kee. You're best bet is to set-up along a travel corridor and ambush them, or, bust the flock up, set-up close to the break-up areaand listen for them to start calling and re-grouping, and then start calling yourself.

I would concentrate on an ambush this time of year. They are very predictable.

Leave the call at home.... go scout a pattern and sit and wait patiently.

bust up the flock, use kee-kee's, soft yelps and purrs. Wait until they sneak up on ya.

I personally think this is the funnest way to hunt turkeys in the fall, but you got to be extremely still, because they will come back in extremely wary.
