RE: Hunting Plans

I'll be hunting in good 'ol crowded Western NY. Birdsall and Canisteo to be specific. But I got a quick questions for all you guys claiming to be huntin 3+ states. Are you guys paying someone to do the huntin for ya, or are you guys doin the dirty work yourselves? I know it takes me a month of scoutin and a whole damn season to figure out one or two birds. And another thing, where do ya'll find the time and money to do so much traveling and what not? I don't know... just a curious hometown boy I guess. J

As for me JayHunter, I have been going to the Black Hills in S.D. for a handfull of years and have several areas where myself along with my hunting buddies have located and harvested birds. We generally hunt those areas and search for others when things are slow. This year in Iowa I will be hunting a private farm for the first time so it will be hit or miss and in Minnesota, I own property with lots birds and have hunted the area for years. I don't get much of a chance to scout as I live 250+ miles away from it, but do know where the birds tend to hang out! As for time, I work 12 hour shifts and get a stretch of 7 days off in a row every month, along with vacation time, I can swing it. Money, well....anything for turkey hunting, save.
GOOD LUCK!!

North central West Virginia... Although i'm afraid this bad winter we're having here may take it's toll on our birds. We haven't seen the ground in many weeks due to heavy snowfall. Lots of frozen crusty snow that i'm sure makes it difficult for turkeys to find food.

Jay Hunter:
Paying someone to hunt for me? Not hardly...I want to experience every minute of every glorious day I can in the turkey woods. And I do 85% of my hunting on public lands. Part of the challenge is seeing new ground and new birds all the time. As for money & time...I work my tail-end off during "non-hunting" months, and I refuse to work during the spring. Life's too short to waste it working.:)
Somehow, I got lucky enough to find a boss that understands this, but it doesn't really matter...if I had to, I'd quit whatever job I had every spring and follow the gobbling north.

I get to go on my first guided hunt in almost 30 years with Tim Herald in Florida. Then I'll spend the rest of the season in Georgia.

First part of season will be right here at home in central Florida. Then it'll be a couple of trips up to my hunt club in Georgia. A nice Osceola-Eastern combo would be nice this year.

I will be hunting my home state of Ga. Will hunt private land and I have 4 WMA's (public land) in the middle Ga. area. Public land totals about 50,000 acers. Bought a new gps and plan to get a long way from any roads and other hunters hopefully.

Good luck all and hunt SAFE!!
Thanks gleninAZ for trying to pass the tradition on.
