red dot for turkey hunting

Whoever uses a red dot for turkey hunting how do you like it?

I put one on my turkey rig last year. I think it works great. It's just a cheap Pine Ridge from Cabela's ( $59.00 ), but it has 5 different crosshairs and 11 different brightness settings. I shoot 3 1/2" mags, and it has had no effect on the Red Dot whatsoever.

I had one and got rid of it. I simply prefer a magnified scope (usually 4x) with a pro-reticle (turkey rectile) cross hairs. JMO though.

I've tried both red dots and 4X scopes. I prefer the scope. It's nice to have the magnification and you don't have to worry with turning it off and on and keeping batteries for it.

All my turkey guns havered dot scopes, 20 ga, 12 ga, 10 ga and my muzzleloader rifle. They are great. The drawbacks mentioned I have had no problems with and for a turkey shotgunthe magnification (in my opinion) is more ahinderance.

I have used a red dot by TruGlo that I purchased through Cabela's about two years ago. It is a 2X scope and I wouldn't give it up.

I useda red dot scope last year. It was fine, but I hated worrying about the batteries. I think a regular scope will be this year's choice.

I love my Millett red dot...I've never had a battery go dead on it...I turn it on as soon as I have a bird committed...and remember to turn it off after the bird is down...One battery lasted me 3 years then I finally changed it just so I wasn't caught with a dead battery...I do carry a spare with me.

I used a Bushnell red dot on my Win 1300 for the first time last spring. It gave me more confidence in knowing where the center of my pattern was, but the battery life concern bothers me enough that I am considering a scope instead. I don't want magnification, just crosshairs or turkey reticle.
