Ordered new gun today!
After getting good advice here and checking my wallet, I ordered a Winchester black shadow 3" with 22" barrel today. I had a Browning BPS 3.5 turkey gun in my hands today and it was REALLY nice but my wallet started screaming "put it back on the rack, it's 600.00" so I ordered the Winchester for less that half of what the Browing was. It comes with a IMP cylinder choke tube only so I need some suggestions for a turkey choke for it. I want to shoot #5 or #4 and would like it to kill birds at 60 yards every shot( sorry, I fell a sleep and started dreaming)I would like a 40 yard gun if possible and would think #4's would work better at long range but please set me straight if I'm wrong. RE: Ordered new gun today!
Don, I have a friend who owned the same gun that you purchased. I say "owned" because he eventually traded it for the same gun with the camo finish instead. It was obviously a good gun or he wouldn't have spent good money on the same gun just to get camo. We have patterned guns together in the spring each year and the Winchesters seem to be really good guns and the Black Shadow is an especially good bargain in the gun world today. You might want to look into a Kick's Gobblin' Thunder choke tube in a .670 constriction for #4's, or a .665 for #5's. You won't be dissapointed in the gun or the choke.

Thanks MOTurkeyTamer, That makes me feel better. I can't decide which size shot I want to use. I'm leaning towards #5 right now. Don

5# seem to be better than 4#, if your shots are at the farther spectrum of 40 than closer, I recomend 5# with a more constricted choke. The heaver 4#'s do hit slightly harder but,,,,, not hard enough to account for the five or six additional pellets a 5# will hit in the kill zone.

RE: Ordered new gun today!
Don, make sure to try out the Tru-Glo Strut-stopper choke tube. It's sized .665 and loves those Winchester 3" HV 1 3/4oz of #5's!! I will be getting another choke tube to try out this spring, a Rhino choke tube. Nitro claims that hevishot shoots best from one of these chokes, so I'm going to give it a try. If this choke does pretty good, I'll be selling my Tru-Glo tube. Keep that in mind!!
