Tips?
Hey, i would like to try turkey hunting this spring...do yall have good good tips and information?
Thanks |
RE: Tips?
My tip for a new hunter would be to do plenty of scouting before season, get to know where the birds are and where they like to go. Get out before daylight during season and stay until legal shooting time is over. Don't go back to the house just because you don't hear any gobbling. The birds are all still there, you just have to wear out a little boot leather and find them. A good pair of binoculars are worth their weight in gold for slipping around and glassing likely spots for strutting birds. When you spot one, get as close as possible without bumping him and set up and call. Most of all, don't get discouraged. Your best teacher will be your experience and time in the turkey woods.

RE: Tips?
During mid-day when they aren't doing much talking, find a spot that looks good or maybe a place where you have seen Turkeys hanging out and sit tight. The more you move when they aren't talking the less chance you have of getting close to one.
