Keep in mined rochelle, that a new striker or two will turn an old slate into a New call, most times you can get strikers cheeper then another slate. If that is the way you want to go I would change to a Aluminum or Glass...BT

I like them with Long Sharp Spurs....

Check out Cody calls. They may be one of the finest on the market!

I have to agree with BT. I had this one slate call that just sounded bad. When I got a new striker for a present the other year (wood wise hickory mystic stick) I do like I always do and pulled out all my calls to run the striker over. The "junk" slate turned into my favorite slate. The stiker made a world of difference. Every time I get a new striker I go through the same routine... I run the stiker over all my friction calls to see what works and what don't.

As for good slates... order this catalog for free and have a field day! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I second Mr. Longbeards vote for the Blodgetts. They are perfect all around, nice to look at, easy to run, and versatile.

The Cody calls are OK, but I think they're a little too much like a production call for a company who claims to be &quot;custom&quot;.
