Ithaca "Quad Bore"

As some of you may remember, I have shot an Ithaca for more years than I care to admit. When Ithaca was bought by the town and retooled, they have tried to make their comeback by offering quality comparable to the early years. Also, they have been offering several innovations. One is the development of a barrel that decreases in bore at 4 stages along its length. They call it the "Quad Bore". Theoretically, this guides the shot to a tighter pattern, rather than squeezing it down in the final 3 inches. They offer this in a 20 ga. in retail stores, but they have told me that they can make me one for my 12 ga. in their custom shop. What I want to know is whether anyone has tried one out and how well do they work?

Thanks in advance for your input.

barefoot I've read about the bore your talking about but that's it however if it's ithaca you can bet it's good. I've been considering a 20 ga ithaca for my wife i think i finally got her talked into going turkey hunting in MO. with me this yr. and she's afraid of a 12 and her 1100 only shoots 2 3/4 shells

RE: Ithaca "Quad Bore"

I saw one (12ga) patterned at the Turkey Trot Acres Celebrity Hunt last year. They were trying hevi shot #5's I think. The pattern at 50 yards was better than most 40yd patterns I've seen. Very impressive shotgun. Barrel is massive!
