Well for one it would be a gun that fits you. I myself just love my Mossberg 500 with a factory xx-ful turkey choke. It is reasonably priced and a great shooting gun. Its a 12ga. But there are other guns out there and believe me others will give you their 2 cents on why their gun is the best. I can only say get what fits you and what your comfortable with. Pattern your gun.

The Remingtom 870 is a GREAT turkey gun, or the Benelli M2 if you have the cash.........

The 870 will stand anything you can throw at it. I had one for 5 years until I traded it for a Benelli M2 and it never gave me any problems. I would get another one just for a turkey gun if I ever wanted to get a gun especially for turkey hunting.

Good Luck!!!!

Most people want the name brand guns because they see the pros use them. I bought a New England Pump Pardner for $237 and it is a wicked shotgun. It has a 22 inch barrel with a .640 hastings choke. I shoot winchester #6 turkey loads and the gun is a killer at 60 yards. Gun is camo and certainly worth the money.

I agree with Ky Turkey Hunter...it is hard to beat the Remington 870. I have the 870 SPS-T with thumbhole and it is probably the most comfortable gun I have ever held. They make it in an automatic as well, however, I wanted a pump instead of an automatic for turkey hunting. Absolutely awesome, awesome turkey hunting gun and it comes with bright fiber-optic adjustable open sights. I had the Mossburg 835 UltiMag and I didn't like it near as much as I do this 870.

I just sold my Mossberg 835 Thumbhole Turkey Series. It's a great model - feels great, shoots better. Just didn't needit anymore.
