Fighting Purr On A Slate?

Can you make one on a friction call? i like using those push button yelpers to make a fighting pur but was just wondering if you can produce the same sound on a friction call. will it destroy the surface or the striker?

thanks all :)

Yeah Raven, I use a slate and a glass call for the fighting purr alot, It won't hurt the call or the striker. At times the fighting purr is one of the deadliest calls there is, one thing for sure you can really get them stirred up by using a FP.

yea Raven, I make the fighten purr on my thunderdome slate. IMO it sounds just as good as the fighten purr calls.

I take my striker and make a continuos V shape call. it sounds really good. try it. just back and forth in a V shape.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I'd like to add something, I may be giving away one of my secrets, but I don't think many or any hunt in the same areas that I do.....I like to do the fighting purr on my Sla-tek call....at the same time, I'll make dang sure the gobbler can't see me, and if I'm positive he can't see me, I'll take my hat and hit the ground and kick my feet in the leaves, to really mimic a couple of fighting hens.....I called up several &quot;hung up&quot; gobblers like this....BUT DON'T TELL ANYONE, that's a good feather to stick in your cap...

I also like the Sla-tek for fighting purrs, but then again I just really like the Sla-tek.

I guess I'm gifted because I can purr exceptionally well with my natural voice. Put a mouth call in my cheek, a Sla-tek in my lap with a striker in my right hand, a push-button in my left hand and I've got a 4-girl fight going in no time.

Worked this scenario last year with a rookie to call in two birds. He aimed at the jake, but never saw the tom giving him the hairy eyeball from 25 yards.

I'll also add that a long boxcall can give a nice fighting purr. Lynch's comes to mind...
