Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

If you know the property you will be hunting, then get out there and scout the property from a distance in the eveningto find where the birds are roosting. Then get out there before daylight and just watch from a distance, to see what they are doing when(Time) they come off the roost. Things may change with the seasons change, such as the trees they roost in, or the Toms hanging together when it is not mating season. But they will generally have specific trees they will roost in, and areas where they will go to feed.

I have never read a book on turkey hunting, but as others have said, there are many to choose from. Hunter Specialties, as well as others have some great videos that can teach you the basics to calling. It is essential that you learn to call, and when to call,so you can bring the toms in. Each area of the country is differant and you can call too much or too little. Some areas it doesn't matter when they are on the roost, how much you call. You just need to get out and listen to what the birds you are going to be hunting are doing. All calls are essential and have there uses, but for me the mouth call or diaphram is the most significant for when you get the toms in close range, so you can still call and not have the hand movement required to operate other calls. Believe me when I say they can see the least little movement, even the blink ofan eye. Other calls are good for long distance calling, such as the slate/glass Pot Calls, or the Box Call- which is generally the loudest. There are many many differant brands of each type of call on the market and everyone has their own opinion of which is the best, so it would be good to ask opinions of each type or search the forums for past post.
