Dust Bath

I have this big dirt spot on my property right under my treestand where turkeys have been dusting themselves.I think they are doing this becauseeverytime I walk back there there is a ton of turkey feathers laying in the dirt.Do you think they will be there by the time fall bow season starts or do they change positions often?

Sometimes turkeys have spring areas and winter areas. But there is a possibility they will hang around the area and use the dusting area. I see way more dusting in the spring and summer compared to fall and winter. As it gets colder the bugs arent as bad for them. Especially winter...

Early fall might be a great place to score there!

The thing with dusting, is that turkeys will dust in a number of places, not just one specific area...

Good luck!

Why do turkeys dust

RE: Dust Bath

Turkeys dust to keep external parasites controled. Every kind of poultry and bird dusts for the same reason. Also on cool morning you might be able to catch a glimpse of some turkeys sunning themselves. Our chickens do it and boy is it a funny sight.
