Saw four groups of turkeys yesterday, 10 gobblers/jakes crossing a backroad, 12 gobblers in a field near the woodline, 11 hens/jakes/jennys in another small field, then 8 gobblers/jakes crossing another backroad onto a hardwood ridge.

Man, those toms looked like they were 30 lbs! Probably close to it from all the pre-winter feeding. But all the &quot;books&quot; say toms run alone or in small bands this time o' year! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Too bad none of them were on property I have permission to hunt... not yet, anyway. Might be time to shave, clean my carcass up & work on my &quot;sales pitch&quot;.

Broken-, yeah, the birds around don't mind many of the old rules! Roosting in same spot, heading to fields when it rains, etc... apparently they aren't big on traditions!

Bob2, I'm trying to hone my &quot;people skills&quot;, have been extremely unsuccesful the last few years in securing permission. Mostly relied on the conservative approach, soft-spoken, clean-shaven & well-dressed (by my standards!). This year I'm thinking of showing up with my usual dress code & a fu-manchu, then greeting them with a hearty handshake & enthusiastic introduction (but I'm sticking with the Sirs, Maams, & &quot;thanks for your time&quot;). Mom, Dad, & Uncle Sam have made that a habit I couldn't break even if I wanted to!
