Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Mossberg 835 Ultimag choke and load question

I just bought a brand new Mossberg 835 Ultimag Turkey gun and would appreciate any advice as to which chokes and loads perform well with this gun so that I have a general idea as to what to start trying. How is the factory Ulti Choke? I don't really want to spend $100 on a choke tube unless there is a big difference in pattern.

I just got the 835 ulti-mag and love it, actually got a turkey with it this year. I use the choke tube that comes with it and i think it patterns great.

Out of my Ultimag, I shoot an Undertaker choke tube and Winchester Supreme 3 1/2 in 5 shot.

Winchester Double-X 3 1/2" #5 shot 2 1/4oz hurts like hell but puts the bird down. I also have shot Winchester Turkey Supreme 3" #5 2oz and those worked good too. But currently i use the Double-X's.

I have the 835 as well. I used the Hastings Choke with #5's. It made a huge difference incomparison to thefactory chokes that come with the gun.

I shot many a bird with the factory choke and winchester#5. Now however I use a Rhino Tube and custom Nitro Ammo. Expensive but there is no comparison.
