Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

You did the right thing eight-arms.

In my state that same kind of report ultimatly lead to the apprehension of a poacher who eventually confessed to having killed over 60 turkeys illegally in the last 5 years.

Remember...Al Capone got smoked for tax evasion...its always the little things....

While all poaching is deplorable, until there is a better ,more thorough investigation, anything was possible!

Okay, guys. I have an update on this. The fish and game guy came and looked at the turkey.

I jumped the gun.

The turkey had been "breasted" and then dumped there. So whoever took it probably did so legally but did not dispose of it properly.

My inexperience was showing on this as I did not even think to look for that.

So the mystery is solved. Sorry for jumping the gun.

I hope whoever dumped him there doesn't do it again though as it still makes us look bad to non-hunters, who would probably make the same mistake I did.

It's no problem, you did the right thing, what if you figured, "Probably just a breasted turkey, that some *&&%$#@ dumped there!", what if it was a poached turkey? You can never be too careful.

I have found 2 dead gobblers on my property during the last few years. What apparently happens is that a hunter takes a shot which is too long, or shoots at a flying bird. A few pellets in the body cavity will eventually kill the bird--after a lot of suffering.

I have seen resultsin deer season, when the local idiots spray buckshot at running deer, and make no effort at recovery. A few buckshot into the body cavity will eventually kill a deer.
